Traditional Litigation Support Case Study:
Multi-Party Employment Discrimination (Title VII) Litigation
GLSGI professionals were retained by the Federal government in 48 jointly filed individual employment discrimination lawsuits alleging discrimination on the basis of race, sex and disability in promotions, pay, job assignments, training and discipline. These actions encompassed more than 3,000 individual claims.
GLSGI personnel established an on-site office staffed by 40 employees and contractors to manage and coordinate the efforts of the litigation team in support of the case. The GLSGI case team
- identified, collected, indexed, imaged and coded over two million relevant documents
- designed and implemented customized information management and control systems
- identified and evaluated the claims of each plaintiff and developed affirmative defenses to those claims
- compiled and tracked witness information,
- prepared deposition outlines,
- located, compiled and tracked data requested by the testifying experts and attorneys
- tracked all discovery requests and responses submitted by the parties
- assisted with the preparation of defendants’ discovery responses
- compiled and reviewed for relevance, privilege, and responsiveness, all material to be produced to opposing counsel
- responded to all requests for information or evidence from defense experts and attorneys and
- conducted over 400 investigative interviews.
The Defense was successful, with summary judgment or dismissal being granted in all 48 cases. The decisions were appealed to the Circuit Court of Appeals where the U.S. District Court’s decisions were upheld.
